Free Interactive Flashcards with Quizlet!

Instructional Technology Tip:
A free tool to create digital flashcards with text, visuals and audio.  Provides a series of interactive ways to study and play games to learn the vocabulary. No student account needed to study.

My Thoughts:
Just when you thought the flashcard dynamic was dead, here comes Quizlet to the rescue.  A well known study mainstay among college and high school students from SAT Prep to simple vocabulary, this free service just keeps getting better.  I have coached teachers to use this service from picture flash cards in kindergarten, to students creating their physics study sets in high school.  With the option of single sign on with Google, along with no account needed unless you are creating them, makes this an easy instructional technology integration tool for teachers.

Let's take a look at the Quizlet Service from two different angles - Student and Teacher!  First the teacher approach, which streamlines creating study sets for your students in a matter of minutes.

For the Teacher:
1. Visit www.quizlet.com and create a free account or sign on with your google credentials.
2. Click Create a Study Set and you are on your way.
3. Choose your language (very nice for LOTE Teachers)
4. Use the Auto define to save you valuable time typing definitions

5. Add images or voice comments to your study sets to make them interactive for students

6. Make your life crazy easy by importing your current vocabulary lists (Click the import button)

7. Make it even easier by searching for a study set and copying the cards as yours.  Make any changes you want to the study set.

For the Student:
1. Visit www.quizlet.com and search for your teacher, set name or keywords to get started.
2. Once you find the desired set you have your choice of interactive ways to study the vocabulary.
